It would be difficult as we should have a list of all potential organizations in the world. If you look at the list of countries, just imagine how much longer would be a list of archival institutions...and how difficult for an end user to navigate. There is some suggestion of a drop-down of suggested names, based on names that have been entered before. This seems more feasible.

It is also in our plans to manage and standardize institutional names from our end. This would mean effectively that one could search for or link to lists of all documents from a single institution as well as something like an institutional profile. This is already built into the backend structure of our database, but we have not yet begun to develop it. I think it will be an important feature that will serve both scholars and institutions. From your comment above, I assume you agree. :)

about the version of the OSA Archivum name: why not just make a menu for choosing the name of organization - in the description page? :-)
that would allow to avoid mistakes, misprints, and guarantee the "unity" of descriptions.
I wonder how the rigidity of terminology is going to be insured across documents on the internet resource like this? Will someone censor the records? Wonder, who will have the heart to do so and how far the power of censorship will stretch in this seemingly free society?
I think that these kind of questions are always raised in internet fora. But, even on sites with terms of use policies, like youtube, content slips through the cracks. Users often work faster than censors, if they exist.
